Why You Should Invest in Wedding Florals

When creating your wedding budget, I encourage you to include one must-have item on your list—your wedding florals. I know what you’re thinking, but I’m not just telling you to invest in flowers because I’m a florist. The bottom line is that your wedding florals breathe life and beauty into your entire celebration.

As a Southern California florist, I know that many couples ask whether they should invest in wedding flowers when creating their wedding budgets. The truth is that wedding flowers are not just something pretty to look at and have for your wedding day. They are the key to transforming your wedding, and they will leave a lasting impression long after your celebration is over.

With that being said, let’s dive into why you should invest in wedding florals!

Why You Should Invest in Wedding Florals

When you think about wedding florals, you might be thinking of lavish centerpieces or extravagant floral arches - but your florals aren’t meant just to be beautiful decorations to admire. They are designed to be the connecting pieces to tie together your entire wedding.

Here are a few of the biggest reasons why florals are a must-have for your wedding:

They add personality and beauty to your celebration

Your florals can be an expression of your and your partner’s personalities, and they are rich with symbolism. For example, you could select peonies, which signify prosperity and good fortune; roses, which symbolize love and passion; or dahlias, which represent inner strength and grace.

Furthermore, flowers add the perfect pop of color to your day and make your venue more charming. Think about how different your wedding venue would look if you didn’t have any flowers—are you content with what you envision?

If the answer is no, imagine how much more vibrant and stunning your setting would be infused with rich hues and colorful flowers. Flowers are, of course, beautiful, but they can also transform and illuminate an entire space.

They reflect your aesthetic and setting

Your wedding florals set the tone and theme for your entire day. For example, if your theme is soft, dreamy, and romantic, you can have classic, elegant blooms such as garden roses and ranunculus combined with lush greenery such as eucalyptus.

Wedding flowers aren’t just decor; they create an experience for you and your guests. When it comes to your florals, you can fully customize them and have them showcase your unique taste.

They can be thoughtful and intentional

The florals you pick for your wedding aren’t just a random amalgamation of different flowers and plants. When you work with a florist, you intentionally choose which flowers best suit your wedding theme and use them as a canvas to match your one-of-a-kind style.

They create stunning pictures

Of course, I have to mention how your florals go hand in hand with stunning wedding pictures. Your flowers create dynamic and enchanting photos whether it’s your detail photos, your photos with your partner in front of a floral backdrop, or a photo where you create an arch of flowers surrounding you and your partner’s face, etc.

Flowers are the perfect element to add to your photos to create eye-catching images you’ll be obsessing over for years to come.

Flowers and Your Budget

Your wedding florals get to reflect the wedding vision you have in mind. If floral arches, elegant bouquets, and luxury centerpieces aren’t your style, you don’t have to include them.

A good rule of thumb is to allocate 10 - 15% of your wedding budget to flowers. However, when creating your budget for florals, it’s important to be realistic with what you can afford—swapping an expensive bloom for a budget-friendly option won’t always achieve the same look.

When it comes to florals, remember you are paying for quality. A good florist can help you tweak and adjust your design and suggest more affordable blooms, but they won’t compromise on quality.

With that being said, as you research florists, you also need to be looking for someone who you trust completely and who truly gets you - this is how the magic happens.

As you decide what flowers you want, my advice is to start with your styling budget. Your florist can work with you to maximize your styling budget and still create beautiful floral arrangements for your day.

There’s a lot of flexibility when it comes to deciding how much you want/are willing to pay for your flowers. If you want more affordable options, you can always choose to have your florals sourced locally, put candles in your centerpieces instead of flowers, and shop seasonally.

Your wedding florals don’t have to break the bank, and you can still find many good-quality flowers at a lower price.
